When Balance Health Club at Mayfield opened the team behind the vision were extremely proud of its accreditation as one of only 8 Nautilus Academies in the world and one of only 3 in Australia. Its world-class design set it apart from other facilities in the region and we are often visited by operators hoping to mimic what we have created since we opened in 2005.
Now in our third year of operation we have redeveloped the Balance concept, we‘ve stepped back and revisited what we have to offer or valued members and guests. It‘s always been there — the emphasis on fun, friendship, like-new equipment and services, and all backed by the reliability of the Wests brand — one of the Hunter‘s leading, locally owned and operated companies.
Members of Balance know they have a place where they can challenge themselves and get encouragement from staff and other patrons alike. A place where they can build friendships, join community groups with like minded ideas and all the time enjoying their ‘me’ time as they work towards their established goals.
Since opening in April 2005, Balance Health Club has attracted over 2,000,000 visits. On the first open day Balance attracted more than 350 people, with 70 joining on the spot. We now have an enviable 5,500 membership; members who regularly enjoy the superb facilities and know they are investing their time and money wisely. This is an investment in their futures and we are here for life!
Balance staff are the people with the energy, qualifications and attitude to operate this centre at the highest level with Phil Matthews, long time local sporting identity leading the team. Phil is supported by some great managers and staff who are on hand to assist with membership services, group fitness, personal training, aquatics instructions, child minding, sales and marketing, finance and accounts. And of course operationally by cleaning staff, a fantastic maintenance team and security.
When the Mayfield facilities opened Philip Gardner, CEO of The Wests Group, said Balance was a facility that was another example of Wests’ commitment to investing back into the local community. “As Wests Group membership approaches 98,000, we need to continually reinvent ourselves to stay at the leading edge in facilities and services that members want,” Mr Gardner said.
“We want to invest in helping to create a healthier community across all age groups and we believe Balance will set a benchmark for the health and fitness industry across the country.
“This development is complimentary to our existing products and a natural progression for The Wests Group as we evolve into a more diverse hospitality organisation.”
